Why I Love Make-up Artist Hung Vanngo!

There are moments in your life when you know you're in a good place. You know that if you just keep doing what you're doing, work hard and eventually you'll get to your destination spot in life. I haven't reached mine yet, but I think I'm steadily on my way there.

I received an email last week from one of my all time favourite make-up artists, Hung Vanngo, about my site. I remember when I first saw his name in my inbox I thought he may have sent it to me by mistake, but when I opened it I squealed with delight when I read, "Hello Joy". Here is what he said:

"Hello Joy,
How are you?
I don't think we ever met before, but I just came across your blog by accident.
I actually enjoy your blog very much and do check it often.
Hope all is well and best of luck with everything.
Take care.
Hung"

I remember sitting back in my chair silently just taking it all in. Some of you may be reading this and thinking, "That's nice, but big deal". This email and my shoot with Mooishi is probably one of the highlights of my career thus far. I have admired his work for years hoping one day I could do make-up and hair as beautifully as he does. I used to study his work along with many other make-up artists I admire such as Pat McGrath and Kevyn Aucoin. He was based in Toronto and now resides in NY. Hung has worked with the best of the best and his work continues to make an impact in the fashion industry. I emailed him and told him that I actually rang in a few products for him back when I was working for Red Earth. However, I was a little awe struck and didn't want him to be scared away by a crazed fan. So, I kept my mouth shut about my undying love for him.

Hung, if you're reading this I hope you're not embarrassed about me showering you with admiration. Thank you for being the amazing artist that you are and for inspiring me. And most of all thank you so much for taking the time to read my site!
